Mile 46.0 to Mile 63.8

This morning was a chilly climb out of the valley to Methow Pass. I had a solitary climb and recently adopted the habit of talking to myself. At the pass I had a breakfast shake and saw some prairie dogs (do those exist here? Ground squirrels maybe?). I then had a lovely ridge walk all the way to Cutthroat Pass. I always end up needing to poop on ridge walks and it’s very difficult to find a place to do so.

Around Cutthroat I hit a decent amount of snow but it was all well hiked through and not a problem. I didn’t expect to see other humans today but luckily Cutthroat is a popular day hike and there were a bunch of day hikers out! I also met a group of three that are section hiking the PCT to Snoqualmie. I was expecting to see them at camp tonight but I’m alone again. 🙁

I had lunch at a viewpoint on my way down from the pass and proceeded downhill. I always get very sleepy after lunch and the heat of the afternoon really gets to me. At the bottom I had a quick break and snack and went to finish off that last few miles to camp.

On my way I crossed Highway 20!! My first road crossing!! My feet were killing me after mile 15 so I was relieved to get to camp. I was too tired to cook dinner so I ate a complete cookie and got ready for bed. Fingers crossed no bears bother me tonight!!
