Mile 154.4 to Mile 169.2
Today was a bit of a slog. But a good day still!! I woke up around 5:30 but didn’t want to move because it was windy. Around 6:30 I finally started moving. We were all kind of slow today. I did about 5 miles and stopped at a side trail to water.
Jedi and Weird Orange caught up and Jedi kindly offered to walk the half mile down to the water source and bring me back up a liter. I hung out with AB for a while waiting for Jedi and Weird O to come back. I also met a hiker named Old Soul. After the break I eventually moved again.
I did around another 5 miles and found Crusher, Herb, and Shit Kicker hanging out by another side trail. I ate lunch with them and we hung out for another hour or so. Not much hiking today lol.
Then we got moving and we did another few miles. I stopped to poop and when I caught up to the group they were all stopped for another break. Jedi, Weird Orange, AB, and Rocket Owl caught up then too. We all lounged in the shade and Jedi quizzed us with some riddles.
It was 5pm and we realized we needed to make it to camp. Crusher, Herb, and Shit Kicker were going slightly further today so they took off. The rest of us did a couple more miles to Apache springs. Me, Jedi, and Rocket Owl made the trek down to water this time. It was pretty steep and pretty far but not too bad.
Its so late and I was so hungry/thirsty I didn’t want to set up my tent. So here I am cow camping (camping out in the open w/ just my sleeping bag and no tent). I’m a little worried about snakes but everyone tells me its a non issue. I’m also sandwiched in between Weird Orange and Rocket Owl so I feel safe. Hopefully it won’t be too cold. Its already pretty cool though, we see the city lights of Palm Springs below us and the stars above us. I even found the big dipper. Time for bed now. Idyllwild tomorrow!!!!
